Workshop DescriptionsFLS Certificate of Completion
NOF launched the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Model of Care Training and Certificate of Completion in New Orleans, April 23-26, 2014 at our Interdisciplinary Symposium on Osteoporosis (ISO). The FLS Training and Certificate of Completion explores the most important economic and health system challenges to the widespread implementation of the FLS model of care, covering topics such as the impact of healthcare reform; challenges and barriers in clinical care; and strategies for organizing, staffing and structuring a successful FLS program.
FLS Training is specifically developed to provide participants with information about the benefits of a FLS program and provides information and tools about how to build and sustain the FLS program. The FLS Training emphasizes the importance of appropriate patient assessment, treatment initiation, medical follow-up and care coordination for the post-fracture patient.
FLS Advanced Course Certificate of Completion
NOF launched the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Advanced Course Model of Care Training and Certificate of Completion in New Orleans, May 16, 2018 at our Interdisciplinary Symposium on Osteoporosis (ISO). This course explores more practice based clinical questions such as: comorbid conditions and osteoporosis; opioid use and osteoporosis; case-study and treatment selection case reviews; drug coverage issues and resources for providers and patients; and an interactive panel discussion.
FLS Advanced Course Training is specifically developed for those who have already completed the FLS Certificate. The FLS Advanced Course Training emphasizes the importance of patient tracking, medication approvals, use of registries, and growing your FLS program.
BoneFitTM is an evidence-informed exercise training workshop, designed for healthcare professionals and exercise practitioners to provide training on the most appropriate, safe and effective methods to prescribe and progress exercise for people with osteoporosis. BoneFitTM Basics is aimed at exercise and fitness professional working in the community with uncomplicated osteoporosis clients. BoneFitTM Clinical is aimed at rehabilitation professionals working in a clinical environment with simple or complex osteoporosis clients. BoneFitTM Basics is aimed at exercise and fitness professional working in the community with uncomplicated osteoporosis clients. It will take place on Wednesday, May 15th from 1:00-5:00 PM and Thursday, May 16th from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM. BoneFitTM Clinical is aimed at rehabilitation professionals working in a clinical environment with simple or complex osteoporosis clients. It will take place on Wednesday, May 15th from 1:00-5:00 PM and Thursday, May 16th from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Physical Therapists will be eligible for 3 hours of CEUs upon completion of the Clinical course.
Bone Basics: From Testing to Treatment -- What You Need to Know to be an Informed Provider and Patient
This exciting half-day symposium will cover essential information for all healthcare professionals, but with a focus on primary care as well as residents/fellows. This session is also open to the public. Learn about interpreting DXA, osteoporosis prevention, diagnosis, treatment -- and enjoy a cheese tasting and discussion on the importance of calcium and other nutrients important for bone health.
